The Academy of Research and Higher Education (ARES) invites applications for its annual scholarship programme, offering aspiring students from eligible countries the chance to study in Belgium.
Successful applicants can pursue either an advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree or take part in a continuing education course lasting between two and six months at higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
Host Institutions:
Universities and accredited higher education establishments in Belgium that participate in the ARES scholarship programme.
Available Programmes:
A variety of courses are eligible, including—but not limited to—fields such as aquaculture, public health, food technology, economics, international development, geographic information systems (GIS), information technology, agriculture, environmental sciences, human rights, and microfinance.

Scholarships Offered:

130 scholarships for advanced bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

70 scholarships for continuing education programmes.
Who Can Apply:

Applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of one of the 31 eligible countries:

Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, DR Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe.

South America & Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, and Peru.

Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Asia: Palestinian territories (Palestinian nationals are eligible even if residing outside these countries).

Tuition fees (for advanced bachelor’s and specialised master’s programmes).

Insurance during the study period.
Eligibility Criteria:

Permanent residency and professional engagement in one of the eligible countries (see list above).

Educational qualifications equivalent to the required Belgian degree level:

For a specialised master’s or continuing education programme: a degree comparable to a Belgian 2nd cycle degree (300 ECTS credits).

For an advanced bachelor’s: a diploma equivalent to a Belgian 1st cycle degree (180 ECTS credits).

At least two years of relevant professional experience in an ARES partner country.
