The Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) is a civic platform focused on protecting Zimbabwe’s Constitution and promoting the principles of constitutionalism, the rule of law, and democratic governance.
According to its founding principles, the forum is not a political party, but a civic space that brings together citizens who are committed to defending the country’s constitutional order. The CDF emphasizes equality among its members, stating that no individual is more important than another and that the strength of the forum lies in collective action.
The platform brings together a wide range of participants, including ordinary citizens, civil society members, professionals, community leaders, organizations, and other stakeholders who believe in protecting the Constitution.
The forum also welcomes individuals who support constitutional democracy and the rule of law, including those who oppose constitutional amendments that they believe could weaken the spirit and integrity of Zimbabwe’s Constitution.
Through its activities, the Constitution Defenders Forum aims to encourage citizens to actively participate in safeguarding the Constitution, stressing that protecting the country’s supreme law is a shared responsibility for all Zimbabweans.
The CDF says it seeks to provide a platform where people who value constitutionalism can unite and work together to ensure that the Constitution remains respected and upheld.
