One person has died and two others were seriously injured after a trailer detached from a moving commuter omnibus and struck pedestrians along Plumtree Road in Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident, which occurred at approximately 1:30 PM in the Belmont area.
According to police, the trailer was being towed by a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter carrying one passenger when it became unhitched and veered off course, hitting three pedestrians who were walking at the edge of the road.
All three victims were transported to Mpilo Hospital for emergency treatment. One later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigations into the cause of the trailer detachment are ongoing.
