by Bustop TV News

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics Unit have dismantled two drug trafficking operations in Harare and Beitbridge, leading to the seizure of over 100 kilograms of dagga and the arrest of several suspects.

Acting on a tip-off, detectives tracked a foreign-registered cross-border bus to a residential property along Arcturus Road in Highlands, Harare, where the bus crew was seen offloading groceries into a DAF truck. Upon conducting a thorough search of both vehicles, officers discovered 59.5 kilograms of dagga, tightly wrapped in yellow plastic packaging.

One suspect, Memory Mukwasani (33), was arrested at the scene for unlawful possession of dagga after she attempted to collect the consignment from the bus crew. The narcotics were immediately confiscated as evidence, and investigations are ongoing to trace the broader network.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Beitbridge, three individuals were apprehended at the Parks illegal crossing point for possession of another large quantity of dagga.

James Vengesai (43), Dumisani Moyo (42), and Peter Matimba (35) were arrested on 2 July 2025 after being found with approximately 50 kilograms of the prohibited substance.
