South African composer Lebo M has filed a US$20 million (about R370 million) lawsuit in a United States court against Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Mwanyenyeka Jonasi.

The legal action follows a viral social media video in which Jonasi joked about the meaning of the chant “Nants’ Ingonyama,” the famous opening line from the song Circle of Life featured in The Lion King.

The clip quickly spread online, attracting widespread attention and sparking debate among fans over issues of culture, language, and interpretation.

While some viewers found the joke humorous, others criticized it as disrespectful to the cultural significance of the chant. The case is expected to draw further attention as it proceeds in court.
