Lerato Molwelang has released a formal public statement following the widespread circulation of a video involving her that has attracted intense attention across various online platforms.
In the statement, Molwelang acknowledges that she is the person featured in the footage but explains that she was deceived and taken advantage of by a casting agency. She says she was misled about the nature and purpose of the project.
She further states that she never signed any contract or agreement permitting the lawful filming, distribution or commercial use of the video. According to Molwelang, she did not give informed consent for the manner in which the content has been shared or exploited.
Molwelang has warned that the continued sharing, reposting, alteration or monetisation of the video is unauthorised and unlawful. She stressed that legal action will be pursued against any individuals, pages or organisations that continue to circulate the material.
She also addressed the existence of a Facebook account circulating online that claims to belong to her, clarifying that it is fake and not associated with her in any way.
Molwelang stated that she only uses her official Facebook account and official Instagram account, and cautioned the public that any statements or content published outside these verified platforms should be treated as false and misleading.
Her statement comes amid widespread public debate and online reaction, as she moves to protect her rights, clarify misinformation and take steps to prevent further distribution of the video.
