The Municipality of Chitungwiza’s Councillors and managers yesterday paid a tribute to the victims of the Manyame Bridge crash through observing a minute of silence during a full council meeting.

This follows a suggestion by Proportinal Representative Councillor, Betty Jasoni to pay tribute to those who perished in the horrific crash that occurred last month after a 30-tonne haulage truck collided head-on with a commuter omnibus along Seke Road near Manyame Bridge.

“Firstly, I would like to pass my condolences to you, Mayor (Councillor Rosaria Mangoma) following the loss of your residents,” said Cllr Jaisoni.

“I think, this is the first time we are meeting after that incident at Manyame bridge. May their sour rest in internal peace.”

In agreement, Chitungwiza Mayor, Cllr Mangoma requested the house to rise and observe a moment of silence in rememberance of those who perished in the accident.

“May we all please rise up and observe a moment of silence in rememberance of our dearly departed relatives as we take this time to honour them. Thank you,” she said.

In her heartfelt condolences statement, Cllr Mangoma expressed deep sorrow saying, it was with deep sense of sorrow addressing the residents of Chitungwiza and the nation following the horrific accident.

Mayor Mangoma stated that after visiting the scene, witnessed a heartwreching scenerio where lives were cut short, families destroyed and a community left in shock.
