The Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Lieutenant General (Retired) Anselem Sanyatwe, has announced the appointment of a new board for the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), set to serve from July 8, 2025, to July 7, 2029.

The new SRC board, tasked with guiding Zimbabwe’s sporting agenda, is composed of the following individuals:

Board’s Strategic Mandate
In a statement announcing the appointments, Permanent Secretary for Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Nicholas Moyo said the move signals the ministry’s drive to promote inclusive governance and long-term planning in Zimbabwean sport.
“The newly appointed board, composed of individuals with significant experience and leadership across various sectors, is expected to guide the strategic direction of the SRC over the next four years,” Moyo said.
The board’s mandate includes:

Overseeing the regulation and promotion of sport and recreation

Strengthening governance within national sports associations

Expanding grassroots talent identification and athlete development

Enhancing sporting infrastructure

Securing sustainable funding for sports programs

The appointments come as part of a wider government effort to revitalize Zimbabwe’s sports ecosystem and improve performance on regional and international stages. The SRC plays a critical role in shaping policy, coordinating sports bodies, and managing national sporting initiatives.
