Wife of CCC Legislator Switches Allegiance to ZANU PF

Mrs Nancy Mafudza Mhetu, the wife of Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) National Assembly Member for Epworth North, Mr Zivai Mhete, has joined ZANU PF, citing the country’s ongoing economic development under President Emmerson Mnangagwa as her motivation.

In an interview, Mrs Mhetu said her decision was influenced by what she described as positive government programmes that are improving the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

“I joined ZANU PF after witnessing the positive initiatives led by the Government. It is the hope of every Zimbabwean to see the country progress. Remaining in opposition while the nation is making significant strides in improving the economy holds no value,” she said.

Mrs Mhetu added that supporting government programmes that empower citizens is more meaningful than staying in opposition politics.

Asked whether her decision would affect her marriage, she said her political choice is a personal right and insisted that her loyalty now lies with ZANU PF.

“I was raised in a ZANU PF family, so I want to return home. My husband is in the opposition, and that is his choice. Zimbabwe is a democratic nation. Who knows, he might even join ZANU PF in the future,” she said.

She further revealed that she is committed to encouraging her husband to consider joining the ruling party.

“It is of no use to remain in opposition politics when everyone is joining the ruling party. I will try to encourage him to join ZANU PF,” Mrs Mhetu said.

Mrs Mhetu also praised ZANU PF Youth League Deputy Secretary for the Commissariat, Cde Taurai Kandishaya, for playing a key role in persuading her to join the party.

Cde Kandishaya said ZANU PF remains a people-centred movement, deeply rooted in the masses and guided by the values of unity, peace and national development.
