Instinctive Beitridge detectives thwarted a huge shipment of Broncleer Cough Syrup destined for a Harare-based peddler.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi commended the detectives alertness in nabbing the coordinated network between the couriers and the peddlers.
“Police arrested Tarusarira Tauya (35) on 29 June 2025 for possession of unregistered medicines.
“On 28 June 2025, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics who were conducting an operation ‘No to cross-border crimes’ at Beitbridge Border Post intercepted and searched Rimbi Bus Tours, leading to the recovery of 742 X 100 millilitres of Broncleer cough syrup, which was meant to be delivered to its owner in Harare,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said communication between Beitbridge and Harare detectives led to the arrest of the peddler.
“He was intercepted at a garage along Simon Mazorodze Road, Harare, after he had received the contraband and loaded it in a silver Toyota Wish.
“The contraband has a street value of USD 3,700,” he said.
