Former Dynamos and CAPS United forward Clive Kawinga has praised his younger brother, Denver Mukamba, as the most gifted footballer of his generation—claiming he possesses more natural talent than both Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
Kawinga believes Mukamba’s career could have soared to the heights of the English Premier League had it not been for personal challenges that derailed him at a critical stage.
“Denver is the most talented player I’ve personally witnessed—not just because he’s my brother, but because many people share the same opinion,” Kawinga said.
While Musona and Billiat have enjoyed more stable and successful careers, Kawinga attributed that in part to stronger management and better support systems.
Mukamba, now 32, recently made a return to Dynamos, with his presence coinciding with a remarkable turnaround for the team. DeMbare are now on a six-match unbeaten run across all competitions. Surprisingly, Mukamba has played fewer than 90 minutes in total since his return, as he has primarily featured as a late substitute.
Kawinga hailed Denver’s recent contribution in one of the club’s key fixtures, calling it a defining moment.
“What he did on Sunday was unforgettable. He overcame all odds, and his performance will go down in local football history. I had told those around me that the day belonged to him—and he proved me right.”
Reflecting on his efforts to facilitate Mukamba’s return to Dynamos, Kawinga admitted to feeling let down by how the club initially handled the situation.
“I reached out to Saul Chaminuka when he was still the head coach to discuss Denver’s comeback,” he said.
“At first, I was unhappy with their condition—they wanted him to undergo trials before offering a contract. That felt disrespectful.”
Despite interest from other clubs, Kawinga said their emotional ties to Dynamos influenced their decision to accept the offer.
“We had options elsewhere, but our love for DeMbare made us look past the disrespect,” he added.
“And Denver told me with confidence—‘Dynamos will not be relegated.’”
