In celebration of its 30th anniversary, DStv has launched a special “Open Time” weekend, giving all active subscribers free access to every channel on the platform from 7 to 9 November 2025.
The initiative, announced by MultiChoice South Africa, allows customers on any bouquet to enjoy premium entertainment at no additional charge. The offer rekindles fond memories of the early M-Net “Open Time” era, when South Africans could watch selected shows for free before full subscription broadcasting began.
As part of the milestone, DStv has brought back some of the network’s most recognisable faces — including Ashley Hayden, Scot Scott, and Doreen Morris — to feature in anniversary specials throughout the weekend.
During the three-day event, subscribers can tune in to a variety of major programming such as the Springboks vs France rugby match, the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, and popular TV favourites like Survivor USA, Date My Family, and a special Carte Blanche retrospective episode.
Byron du Plessis, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, said the gesture was meant to express gratitude to loyal viewers while reintroducing DStv’s rich content lineup to new audiences.
“This is our way of saying thank you and welcoming a new generation of viewers back home,” he said.
The celebration not only honours DStv’s three-decade journey in television but also reflects its ongoing evolution in an increasingly competitive digital entertainment space.
