On Saturday night The Rooftop on Josiah Chinamano Avenue came alive with rhythm, passion, and purpose as Afro EthnicBabe (AEB), Zimbabwe’s rising Afrofusion sensation, delivered a soul-stirring, show-stopping performance at the Life-Saving Concert for Carol Tsitsi Marufu.
Originally billed to perform just two or three tracks, Afro EthnicBabe found herself glued to the stage as the audience refused to let her go. With a signature sound blending Shona, Ndebele, and contemporary Afrofusion, she mesmerised the crowd, lifting spirits and turning the evening into an unforgettable celebration of music, strength, and community.
And it wasn’t just the voice that captivated , her breathtaking costumes and vibrant dancers, all provided by the phenomenal designer Ruby’s Touch Designs added an electrifying visual layer that left the crowd in amazed
The organisers were left breathless. In their words:
“Yooh Afro EthnicBabe is powerful! The likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Shingisai, Sulumani, and Mapfumo all wrapped in one. Thank you for letting us witness such a priceless experience.”
This magical moment was made possible by a team of visionaries and the unwavering leadership of Tanya Rwodzi, who heads the Afro EthnicBabe team. Also applauded were the high-energy dancers, the charismatic DJ and MC, and Shanyai Events Management, whose consistent backing of both Afro EthnicBabe and Carol’s cause proved invaluable.
Afro EthnicBabe wasn’t just the star of the night she became its heartbeat. Fellow artists Pauline, Kessia, Sarah D, Maskiri who also delivered outstanding performances showered her with praise and encouragement, echoing the sentiment that Zimbabwe is witnessing the birth of a superstar.
Reggae sensations Buhle and Empress Helga also left the crowd stunned.
The journey for AEB is just beginning as she is billed to perform at Agga Nyabinde’s Birthday Bash on 20 August in Harare and at the Let ThemTrustSchoolsFestivalin September.

This will be another chance for all who missed the fundraiser, to witness this new star. . Afro Ethnic Babe was defined by the audience as a rocket that is about to take off.

The concert was held to raise vital funds for Carol Tsitsi Marufu, a resilient 37-year-old living with multiple neurological conditions, including ACC, HPE, and PMG, compounded by recent complex gynaecological surgery. Her journey has been one of pain, courage, and unwavering passion especially in the creative arts sector, where she shines as a video editor, social media manager, cinematographer, and content creator.

With a goal of raising US$12,800 to cover medical bills and rehabilitation costs, the concert brought together artists, community leaders, and supporters in an emotional show of solidarity. Organised by Let Them Trust (run by Chido Musasiwa-Gutu), in the power of collective humanity.
The public and all stakeholders are still being invited to donate towards Carol’s medical needs.
