The Parliamentary Committee on Mines and Mining Development in collaborating with Miss Mines Zimbabwe hosted government representatives, parliamentarians and members of the business sector.

In an interview with Powerquip Founder and Chief Executive, Mr Takwana Zhowake said the upper middle income by 2030 in the mining sector is achievable.

The event ran under the theme “Enhancing the Mining Industry in Attaining an Upper-Middle-Income Zimbabwe by 2030.

Mr Zhowake said Powerquip is making strides in contributing towards the country’s goal of achieving an upper-middle-income mining sector by 2030.

Powerquip Services is a leading supplier of mining, safety, and slurry technology, a key partner in the mining industry, providing essential equipment and solutions to boost productivity and improve safety.

“We were proud to participate in the parliamentary breakfast meeting to share our expertise and insights on how to propel the sector forward.

“As a leading equipment supplier, Powerquip Services is committed to supporting the mining industry’s growth and development. We shared our experiences and best practices on how to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve safety-all crucial in achieving the 2030 goal,” said Mr Zhowake.

“We have had success stories of improving mine productivity and reducing downtime through our equipment and services.

However, we face challenges such as infrastructure constraints, skills shortages and regulatory hurdles.

“We are addressing these challenges through partnerships, training programs, and advocacy,” he said.
