Proclaimed Prophetess Faces Arrest After Ritual Death

Charity Mafirowanda, a self-professed prophetess and eight of her congregants have been arrested following the shocking incident which rocked Kwekwe.

Following Micky Chuma’s tragic death at Mbizo Church Shrine after drinking a poisonous concoction presumably meant for a demon expulsion ritual, Mafirowanda is suspected of administering fatal doses during the ritual to cast out demons aimed at ridding their lives of one.

 Suspected Ritual Gone Wrong

Mafirowanda and her supporters allegedly forced Chuma, aged 32, to consume an unsafe concoction in an attempt to exorcise evil spirits; unfortunately, this ritual eventually proved fatal as Chuma succumbed to its effects and later passed away from them.

Commissioner Paul Nyathi of the ZRP has confirmed that police are currently conducting an investigation, suspecting that a concoction administered to Chuma as part of an attempt to exorcise evil spirits has played an instrumental role in her demise, according to an announcement issued by Commissioner Nyathi in a press release.

Cover-Up Attempt: An Enduring Coverup Plot

Unbeknownst to them, Chuma’s lifeless body was transported back home after it had been placed at a shrine and placed onto his bed covered with blankets as part of their scheme to cover up their involvement in his death by making it appear that she died naturally.

“Suspects were suspected of transporting the body from a shrine back home where they placed it before covering it with blankets to hide their crime,” Nyathi alleged.

Arrests Are Coming: Justice in Sight

Talent Khumalo (42) and her eight followers -Tongani Paraffin (33), Admire Makota (23,) Ronald Mandiedza (24), Margret Zireba (21), Lyton Ndlovu (19), Arnold Mashiri (23) and Pauline Banda (33)–have been arrested as investigations proceed.

This tragic case illustrates the perils that may emerge under the pretence of religious or spiritual healing, leaving Chuma’s community devastated with news of her untimely demise, while now also facing up to the reality that their religious practice took someone’s life instead of offering salvation.
