SAPS Warns Woman Impersonating Police Officer on Facebook

by Bustop TV News

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has issued a public warning to a woman who goes by the name Khosi Thomson, a foreign national accused of impersonating a police officer on social media.

Thomson is alleged to have posted several photos of herself wearing attire similar to police uniforms, while falsely claiming affiliation with the Johannesburg Central Police Station.

According to SAPS officials, she is not employed by the police service and the outfits she wore are not part of the official SAPS-issued uniform.

In response to her online activity, SAPS’ digital communications team reached out to Thomson, directing her to immediately stop portraying herself as a police officer.

Following this contact, her Facebook profile was reportedly made private.

A formal investigation has since been launched, with SAPS Crime Intelligence working to locate her.

The police have reminded the public that impersonating a law enforcement officer or unlawfully displaying police symbols such as uniforms, badges, or other insignia is a serious offense that could lead to arrest, fines, or even jail time.

SAPS continues to urge citizens to report suspicious activity or impersonations through official channels to help maintain the integrity of the police service.
