The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Abraham Temayi Vumbunu and Elijah Temayi Vumbunu in connection with the US$4 million Ecobank armed robbery that occurred in Bulawayo on 3rd October 2024.
The suspects were apprehended on 5th July 2025 in the Republic of South Africa.
Due legal processes are currently underway to facilitate their extradition to Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police continues to pursue investigations and efforts to apprehend other suspects linked to this case.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring that all individuals involved in criminal activities, including those who flee to neighbouring countries are brought to justice. Law enforcement efforts will be pursued diligently and without fear or favour.
“We urge members of the media to exercise caution and patience in reporting on the Ecobank robbery, as investigations are still ongoing and leads are being followed up,” said Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
