Tendai Magaya Granted Bail in Fraud Case

by Bustop TV News

Tendai Magaya, wife of Prophet Walter Magaya and founder of Prophetic Healing Deliverance Ministries, has been granted bail by a Harare magistrate while facing fraud charges.

Magistrate Mrs. Marewanazvo Gofa set bail at US$500, imposing conditions that Tendai must not interfere with ongoing investigations.

The State had opposed bail, arguing that Tendai posed a flight risk and could influence witnesses due to her prominent position within the church.

In her ruling, Mrs. Gofa noted that Tendai had presented a credible defence to the allegations. She further stated that investigations had been ongoing for two years, and the accused should not be denied bail merely because the State required more time to conclude inquiries.

The magistrate also highlighted that denying bail based solely on her role in the church would be unjust.

Tendai is accused of defrauding church members of US$42,000 through a purported land scheme involving non-existent stands.

She is scheduled to return to court on November 18.
