Businessman Pledges Additional Ambulances Following Backlash

by Bustop TV News

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has announced plans to donate an additional 20 ambulances, following criticism from opposition politician Fadzai Mahere over his initial donation of 10 ambulances on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s birthday.

Chivayo, who is currently in Kenya, explained that he was motivated by the welfare of communities rather than political considerations. In a statement shared on social media, he said his decision to donate ambulances was made from the heart and that he was not engaging in a personal dispute.

“To be clear, I am not at odds with anyone,” Chivayo said. “I made the initial donation sincerely, and the criteria for distribution remain the same. I have now ordered 20 more ambulances to continue supporting communities in need.”

He added a lighthearted warning to political opponents: “Do not take offence, this is about helping people, not politics.”

Chivayo’s pledge has reignited discussions on private sector contributions to public health in Zimbabwe, with many lauding the businessman for his continued support.
