Chatunga Mugabe Remained In Custody

Chatunga Mugabe is due in court today to lodge a formal bail application following his arrest linked to a shooting incident at a Hyde Park residence in Johannesburg.

The incident left a 23-year-old gardener with gunshot wounds, and he is currently hospitalised in critical condition.

Police also took into custody Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze in connection with the matter. The two are facing several charges, including attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors had earlier objected to bail, citing the need for investigations to be completed. The court is scheduled to hear detailed bail submissions today, 3 March 2026, with further developments expected as the case unfolds.
