ZANU PF’s Legal Affairs Secretary, Patrick Chinamasa, has confirmed that businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has officially been appointed to the party’s powerful Central Committee, stating that the decision is final and cannot be reversed.
The announcement comes at a time of rising internal discord, with reports of divisions within the party over Tagwirei’s elevation. Some members had previously pushed back against his inclusion, citing concerns about his controversial background and increasing political clout.

Despite earlier resistance, Tagwirei’s acceptance into the committee marks a significant realignment within ZANU PF’s leadership circles, especially as the party prepares for upcoming leadership struggles.
Interestingly, Chinamasa’s confirmation contradicts earlier remarks by party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, who had publicly dismissed Tagwirei’s chances due to alleged misconduct. The conflicting narratives point to a widening rift within the party and growing questions about internal unity and governance transparency.
