Two Kadoma men escaped jail time by a whisker after the courts ordered them to perform community service despite burgling houses.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPA) said the duo appeared before a Kadoma Magistrates” Court facing unlawful entry charges.
Two other members of the gang are still at large.
“On 11 May 2025, Leeroy Tsvengende (23) and Sontini Showo (28), both from Ingezi, broke into the victim’s garage in Rosebank.
“The quartet stole a generator valued at USD 700 before fleeing.
“On 17 May 2025, the gang used the same modus operandi to steal another generator and hammer mill,” said NPA.
The two offenders were sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, of which six months were suspended.
The remainder was suspended on condition that they complete 480 hours of community service.
