Clayton Nyathi (31) of Breakfast, Matetsi, has been remanded in custody to the 30th of June 2025 by the Hwange Magistrates’ Court after being arrested for attempted murder.
The incident occurred on the 13th of June 2025, when Nyathi allegedly stabbed Jacob Khumalo during a heated altercation along Gundafolosi Road.
According to the NPA, Nyathi was leading an ox-drawn scotch cart, allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket, and stabbed Khumalo in the stomach, causing him to fall unconscious.
A passerby quickly alerted the authorities.
The victim was rushed to Victoria Falls Hospital and later transferred to Mpilo Hospital, where he remains admitted.
Eyewitnesses were present and identified Nyathi as the assailant.
