Police in Manicaland Province have opened a murder investigation following the death of a 49-year-old man who was severely beaten with switches during a dispute.
According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the incident occurred on April 14, 2025, in Mheuka Village, Chimanimani.

The suspect, identified as Learnmore Muyambo, allegedly assaulted the victim, Phineas Matambadzure, using multiple strikes across the body with switches—flexible sticks or rods typically taken from tree branches.
Matambadzure was rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries upon admission. Authorities have since launched a search for Muyambo, who is currently on the run.
Commissioner Nyathi confirmed that investigations are ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward.
