Zimbabwe is taking a major step toward digitizing its land ownership processes through the rollout of a new electronic titling (e-titling) platform, designed to promote transparency and streamline land administration.
The development was announced by Minister of Information Communication Technologies Tatenda Mavetera during the second Land Tenure Conference, held in Bulawayo on Wednesday.
In her remarks, Minister Mavetera underscored the importance of integrating digital tools into land governance, especially as the country adapts to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“As we embrace this digital era, it’s vital that our land tenure systems are transparent, inclusive, and efficient to ensure that no one is left behind,” she said.
The e-titling platform is part of a broader government-led digital transformation initiative aimed at improving efficiency and accountability in the land reform process.
Mavetera also highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment in land ownership, calling for increased education on land rights and greater access to digital literacy programs.
“Land ownership for women plays a crucial role in closing the gender gap,” she noted.
The event attracted a number of high-profile business figures, including Tawanda Mutyebere, Clive Musenye, Obey Chimuka, Scott Sakupwanya, and Special Presidential Advisor Paul Tungwarara.
Kuda Tagwirei, newly appointed to the ZANU-PF Central Committee, attended the event as the guest of honor.
