The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has issued a strong warning to the public about a fake job recruitment scam targeting Zimbabweans seeking employment at the country’s embassy in Kenya.
According to the ministry, a fraudulent Facebook page named “Zimbabwe Embassy Kenya,” created on June 14, 2025, is advertising nonexistent job opportunities and requesting payments of US$375 for a so-called Africa Regional Labour Accreditation Certificate.
In an official statement, Mrs. Philisiwe Chidawanyika, the ministry’s spokesperson and director of public diplomacy, confirmed that the page is not affiliated with the embassy, the ministry, or the government of Zimbabwe. She reminded citizens that all public service jobs are handled by the Public Service Commission, and no payment is ever required to apply.
“For the integrity, dignity, and prosperity of Zimbabwe, we urge the public to verify job offers for opportunities abroad directly with the ministry or our embassies,” said Chidawanyika.
The ministry is urging the public to stay vigilant, avoid paying any money to scammers, and report suspicious activity to authorities. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade directly for accurate information.
