Mubobobo Nabbed: Woman goes on rampage

by Bustop TV News

A disturbing incident captured on video in Zimbabwe has sparked widespread conversation about the controversial spiritual practice known as Mubobobo, after a woman publicly confronted and physically attacked a man she accused of using the practice for s2xual exploitation inside a commuter vehicle.

The altercation took place along a busy road, where witnesses say the man—reportedly intoxicated—behaved inappropriately toward a female passenger.

The woman, visibly enraged and emotionally distressed, lashed out at him, accusing him of attempting to perform Mubobobo, a form of alleged spiritual manipulation believed in some communities to simulate s@xual acts without physical contact.

In the video obtained by Matrix Crimes, the woman is heard shouting, “Handina hukama nemi, baba imi! Kundiburitsira chinhu chenyu mukombi manje ndokurowai!” translated loosely as, “I have no relationship with you, sir! You’re exposing yourself to me in this vehicle; now I will beat you!” Her outburst drew support from several other female passengers who also expressed anger at the man’s alleged actions.

“Murohwe zvakanyanya, anopenga. Apa tese tatorohwa—hamunyare nhai baba imi,” said one passenger, calling for the man to be thoroughly punished, accusing him of bringing shame upon everyone in the vehicle.

Understanding Mubobobo

Mubobobo is a practice rooted in certain traditional beliefs, often described as a form of spiritual or mystical control that allegedly allows a person to engage in non-consensual s@xual activity through supernatural means. While its existence is heavily debated, it remains a deeply controversial and taboo subject in Zimbabwean society.

Commonly referred to by some as “Lula Lula,” the practice is said to involve the manipulation of thoughts and desires, raising serious concerns about consent, exploitation, and psychological harm.

Public Reaction and Outrage

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation and reignited debate around spiritual abuse and public safety, particularly for women in shared transportation. Social media platforms have lit up with commentary, with many calling for stronger protections and public education on both the cultural myths and real-world impacts of such behaviour.

While there is no official statement yet from law enforcement regarding the incident, the video has prompted discussions among traditional leaders, legal experts, and human rights advocates about the boundaries between cultural beliefs and personal rights.
