Prevail to Begin Nationwide Distribution of 2 000 VBUs on Monday

Prevail Group International will on Monday begin the nationwide distribution of 2 000 Village Business Units (VBUs), marking one of Zimbabwe’s most extensive rural empowerment rollouts to date.

The equipment which includes borehole pressure tanks, full drip-irrigation kits, polyester piping and standalone solar units arrived this week as part of Prevail’s drive to accelerate rural industrialisation in line with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

Prevail Group International Public Relations Manager, Mrs Tariro Dondo, confirmed the distribution schedule, stressing that beneficiary identification will be led strictly by the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA).

“The VBU equipment is set for distribution starting Monday next week. ZINWA is the principal authority responsible for identifying beneficiaries, and we are working under them to ensure transparency, order and alignment with national development priorities,” said Mrs Dondo.

She said the rollout represents a major step in boosting agricultural productivity, improving rural incomes and expanding economic opportunities for thousands of households across Zimbabwe.

“This programme is part of our empowerment drive under Vision 2030 and NDS2. VBUs provide villages with water security, renewable energy and modern irrigation technologies, enabling communities to produce more, earn more and build sustainable rural enterprises,” she said.

The initiative, championed by Prevail Group International and supported by Presidential Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara, is expected to significantly scale up rural commerce. National statistics have already shown that well-equipped VBUs can generate hundreds of thousands of dollars annually within their first months of full operation.

Distribution and installation teams are expected to deploy across all provinces starting Monday, cementing VBUs as a key pillar of Zimbabwe’s rural economic transformation.
