The South African men’s cricket team, known as the Proteas, have touched down in Bulawayo ahead of their highly anticipated two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, which kicks off this Saturday at Queens Sports Club.

The visitors arrive with a wave of confidence, fresh from their thrilling ICC World Test Championship victory over Australia at Lord’s.

Their recent success has added to the hype surrounding the upcoming red-ball showdown.

Zimbabwe, however, is equally motivated following their milestone Test match against England at Trent Bridge, where they impressed during a one-off encounter.

Now back on home ground, the Chevrons are looking to channel that momentum into a strong performance against their southern neighbours.

In a leadership shuffle, Keshav Maharaj will lead the Proteas in the absence of injured skipper Temba Bavuma.

Speedster Lungi Ngidi is expected to bolster the squad ahead of the second Test, scheduled for July 6 to 10.

Cricket fans can look forward to two weeks of intense red-ball action, as both sides bring renewed energy and national pride to the pitch.
