Reactive police units in Kwekwe arrested four Harare men after intercepting a truck loaded with fake Huletts sugar.
The NPA said the counterfeit Huletts sugar was worth USD 14,658.
“The matter has been remanded to the 19th of December 2025 for set-down as investigations continue.
“Devine Manzisano (19), Ashten Rwodzi (40), Rebecca Hando (31) and Kudzaishe Karimatsanga (18) appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court facing charges under the Trade Marks Act,” said the NPA.
Court records indicate that detectives received information on 3 December 2025, around 1700 hours, that the group was delivering counterfeit sugar at Machingura Wholesale in the Kwekwe Industrial area.
“Acting on the tip-off, detectives intercepted a white and maroon DAF CF truck carrying 698 × 20-kilogramme bags of counterfeit sugar. Tongaat Huletts’ Loss Control Officer confirmed the consignment was counterfeit.
“The four suspects, from Waterfalls and Chitungwiza, were arrested and the goods were seized.
“Preliminary findings show the accused had no authority from Huletts Private Limited. Investigations are ongoing to identify the full network behind the operation.”
