TikTok User Faces $10K Claim from Cosmetic Company

A Harare based cosmetic company -Nyasha Cosmetics which supplies cosmetics, lotions, perfumes and other related products is demanding US$ 10 000 from a tiktok user Margret Saya (Nashei Beauty Spar on tiktok) for posting a decampaigning video allegedly spreading false information against the company.

The company, alleges that Nashei Beauty Spar’s video which was posted on 9 September 2025 had false information meant to redirect online customers to a competitor whilst harming her business. The video has since been watched by over 4000 people and the number continues to grow everyday. This is said to have costed the company sales and destroyed their reputation as a leading distributor of cosmetic products in the country.

Through their lawyers Scanlen and Holderness, Nyasha Cosmetics is demanding that Saya:

1. Immediately remove the TikTok video and any related defamatory content.
2. Issue a public apology and retraction with equal prominence within 48 hours.
3. Pay USD 10,000 in damages for reputational harm, loss of earnings, and injury to goodwill.

This said video which was still online by the time of this publication has since been watched by over 4000 people and the number continues to grow.

Failure to comply within seven days, the letter warns, will result in legal proceedings being filed against her, with Nyasha Cosmetics seeking damages together with interest and legal costs.

Nyasha Cosmetics, through its legal representatives, categorically denies the allegations of inefficiency and insists they are “unfounded, untrue, and calculated to injure” the company’s professional standing.

At the time of publication, it was not immediately clear whether Saya had responded to the demands.
