ZHRC, Catholic Commission Join Forces to Promote Human Rights

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe (CCJPZ) aimed at strengthening the promotion of human rights, justice, and social protection.

Through the agreement, the two organisations committed to collaborate in defending human dignity, safeguarding vulnerable communities, and building a fair and peaceful society.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Friday, CCJPZ Secretary Tryvis Moyo said the partnership would boost awareness of human rights, enhance justice initiatives, and improve service delivery to citizens.

“The formalisation of this cooperation reflects our shared convictions and values of upholding human dignity,” Moyo said. “Where rights are respected, justice and peace thrive — and society as a whole benefits. Working alongside the ZHRC ensures our advocacy translates into practical outcomes, while broadening people’s understanding of rights and justice in its many dimensions.”

ZHRC Chairperson Jessie Majome described the collaboration as a pledge to advance equality, dignity, and freedom through truth-telling and protection of marginalised groups.

“This MoU is a public statement of our commitment to stand together in promoting justice and human rights. It demonstrates our readiness to share information, refer cases of violations, and strengthen accountability mechanisms to better serve Zimbabweans,” Majome said.
