The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has rolled out a Local Police Clearance Certificate, a document designed exclusively for use within the country.
In a statement released on February 2, the police confirmed that the certificate is issued on ZRP Form 143 and can be easily identified by its yellow colour. While the application process mirrors that of the international police clearance, the local version does not include the release of fingerprint records to the applicant.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve efficiency and make police clearance services more accessible for domestic needs.
“The introduction of the Local Police Clearance Certificate reflects the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s commitment to improving service delivery, enhancing operational effectiveness and responding to public demand,” Nyathi said.
He noted that fees remain unchanged, with standard applications costing US$5 and processed within seven days, while urgent applications cost US$10 and are completed within three days. Applicants have been encouraged to visit their nearest police station for further assistance and guidance.
