The government of Zimbabwe has assured the public that all nationals currently residing in the Middle East, where tensions have recently escalated, are safe and under the protection of diplomatic missions in the region.

According to a statement from Philisiwe Chidawanyika, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the government is actively monitoring the unfolding situation and has confirmed, through its embassies, that Zimbabwean citizens in affected countries are accounted for and secure.

“The ministry is closely observing developments in the Middle East and remains committed to its constitutional duty, in accordance with Section 35(3) of the Constitution, to protect Zimbabwean citizens, regardless of where they are in the world,” said Chidawanyika.

She emphasized that those Zimbabweans who reached out to the country’s embassies in impacted areas have all been confirmed safe. Government, she added, continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad by offering full consular support, including assistance with repatriation or evacuation when necessary.

The reassurance follows growing concerns among Zimbabwean families amid rising instability in various Middle Eastern countries. The ministry has encouraged nationals residing abroad to register with their nearest Zimbabwean diplomatic mission to ensure efficient communication and support during emergencies.

Chidawanyika further stated that Zimbabwe’s embassies in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Saudi Arabia remain fully operational and are in close contact with regional and international partners to stay informed on security developments.

She also acknowledged the proactive efforts of Zimbabwe’s diplomatic staff and diaspora communities, thanking them for their continued collaboration in safeguarding citizens.

Citizens in need of updates or assistance have been urged to reach out to the ministry’s Consular Services Department or visit the nearest embassy or consular office for further support.
