Opposition Activist Linda Masarira Defends Stand Against M31 Protests

Opposition activist Linda Masarira has strongly rejected accusations that she is a “regime enabler” following her comments about the upcoming 31 March protests led by war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza.

Geza, who was recently expelled from ZANU PF, has been advocating for mass protests to force President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation, citing corruption, cronyism, nepotism, and inefficiency within the administration.

However, Masarira cautioned that the planned protests are not genuinely focused on addressing the suffering of Zimbabweans, but rather represent an internal struggle within ZANU PF. In a statement on social media platform X, she said:

“It is unfortunate that whenever someone calls for strategic thinking instead of blind reaction, they are accused of benefiting from the regime. Let me make this clear: I am not, and have never been, a regime enabler. My fight has always been for justice, economic freedom, and a better Zimbabwe for all—not for any political party, but for the people.”

Masarira emphasized that being in opposition does not mean supporting chaos or reckless actions that don’t lead to meaningful change. She expressed her refusal to be used as a pawn in ZANU PF’s internal power struggles, noting that the M31 protests are not about the people’s well-being but a factional dispute within the ruling party.

She further argued that opposing bad governance should not involve blindly following those who exploit genuine grievances for political gain. “I stand with the people and will always fight for real solutions that bring lasting change, not short-term reactions that only serve a few individuals in political fights,” Masarira asserted.

Masarira challenged her critics to point out any instances where she has benefited from the current government, reaffirming her commitment to fighting for the people of Zimbabwe.
