Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison following convictions related to prostitution, according to reports.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian emphasized that a significant sentence was needed to send a strong message that exploitation and abuse of women would be met with “real accountability.”
Accounting for time already served, Combs could remain in custody until late 2028. In addition to the prison term, he has been fined $500,000 the maximum allowable ordered to serve five years of supervised release, and required to forfeit property linked to the offences.
Combs’ legal team had requested a lighter sentence of no more than 14 months, pointing to his acquittal on charges including trafficking two former girlfriends and operating a racketeering scheme over nearly 20 years. Prosecutors, by contrast, had sought a term exceeding 11 years.
He was convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act for arranging travel across state lines so that his girlfriends could engage with male escorts. Testimony from two women, including singer Casandra Ventura (known as Cassie) and another former partner using the pseudonym Jane, described the experiences as violating and traumatic.
Breaking his silence in court, Combs expressed remorse, calling his actions “disgusting, shameful, and sick,” and appealed for leniency.
