The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has appointed Dr. George Munyaradzi Manyaya as its new Chief Executive Officer, with immediate effect, the Authority announced on Monday.

Dr. Manyaya brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, international relations and tourism development.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and has an academic background in International Relations and Strategic Management. His professional career spans several sectors, including telecommunications and tourism.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Manyaya earned international recognition as a Tourism Brand Ambassador, an accolade endorsed by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Secretary, highlighting his contribution to destination branding and tourism advocacy.

ZTA said Dr. Manyaya’s appointment comes at a critical period for the tourism industry as Zimbabwe intensifies efforts to revive the sector following the disruptions caused by the COVID‑19 pandemic.

He is expected to lead initiatives aimed at increasing both domestic and international tourist arrivals, strengthening destination marketing, and promoting sustainable tourism development.

Tourism remains one of Zimbabwe’s key economic pillars, contributing significantly to employment creation and foreign currency earnings.

The Authority expressed confidence that Dr. Manyaya’s leadership will help position Zimbabwe as a competitive and attractive global tourism destination.
