Tsenengamu Seeks Reentry Into ZANU-PF After 5-Year Expulsion

by Bustop TV News

Former ZANU-PF youth leader Godfrey Tsenengamu is attempting to rejoin the ruling party, five years after his expulsion in 2020 over what was described at the time as “wayward behaviour.”

Tsenengamu’s removal followed his public accusations against senior party figures, whom he accused of engaging in corrupt activities. Alongside fellow youth leader Lewis Matutu, Tsenengamu openly criticized prominent businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei, alleging his involvement in an economic sabotage network.

Ironically, Tagwirei—once a target of Tsenengamu’s outspoken condemnation—has since risen within ZANU-PF’s ranks and now holds a seat on the influential Central Committee.

Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com, Tsenengamu emphasized that his departure from ZANU-PF was not voluntary.

“I’ve always considered myself part of ZANU-PF, except during the period I was expelled,” he said. “I never chose to leave the party willingly, and that should clarify why I’m now seeking re-entry.”

Tsenengamu also reaffirmed his belief in the party’s principles and mission, despite past conflicts.

After his departure, he went on to establish the Front for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe (FEEZ), a political outfit aimed at challenging the ruling elite. Ahead of the 2023 elections, FEEZ threw its support behind former ZANU-PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, who was later disqualified from the presidential contest.

Despite his history of criticizing corrupt elements within ZANU-PF, Tsenengamu insists that his decision to return does not equate to endorsing every aspect of the party’s conduct.

“Rejoining the party doesn’t mean I support everything done by its members,” he said. “Just like in families or religious institutions, disagreements are natural. ZANU-PF is no different. But it makes no sense to abandon something you’ve helped build.”
