The U.S. Embassy has issued a warning to students holding student visas issued by Zimbabwe that fail to abide by all terms and conditions set out on them and comply fully. Otherwise serious consequences could ensue.
Embassy officials issued an official statement noting that students who abruptly withdraw from programs, miss classes, or withdraw without notifying educational institutions are risking having their student visa revoked and may also lose eligibility for future U.S. visas.
The Embassy recently reminded students that maintaining full-time enrollment and meeting all conditions on their student visas are crucial components to remaining compliant with U.S. immigration authorities, in order to avoid complications which might impede future travel plans to America. If not performed according to these provisions, complications may develop which would potentially compromise future visa application approval and possibly lead to being banned from future entry to the country.
Warning was also issued concerning the importance of keeping schools apprised of any changes in students’ academic status or plans for withdrawal or enrollment status changes.
Students are strongly urged to contact their institution immediately if contemplating withdrawing from programs or making any significant alterations in enrollment status or academic programs.
“Ensure you abide by the conditions of your visa and maintain student status at all times,” read a statement issued by USI-Irish, warning against violations that could have serious repercussions, possibly including revoking it altogether.
The advisory by the Embassy aims to inform Zimbabwean students studying in the US of any risks that come from violating visa regulations and fail to obtain valid entry visas.
