WhatsApp has unveiled a series of updates in recent months aimed at improving how users interact on the platform—whether through messaging, voice and video calls, or sharing updates with their communities.
Messaging on WhatsApp is becoming more dynamic with the introduction of animated emojis. These lively icons now bring motion to everyday conversations, giving users a more expressive way to communicate beyond the standard static emojis.
Users can also tap into their creative side with the new animated sticker tool, which transforms videos into stickers. This addition gives chats a personalised and entertaining touch.
In a change designed to simplify group communication, WhatsApp now allows users to create groups by name only, without having to add participants immediately. This enables users to plan and organize group content in advance. Members can be added later using an invite link.
Another boost to usability is the ability to caption, react to, and reply to multiple photos or videos at once. This makes navigating through shared media in group chats or one-on-one conversations more efficient.
The Calls tab has been revamped to offer a centralized hub for managing voice and video communication. From tracking call history to launching a new call or sharing a call link, everything can now be done in one place.
For video call users, WhatsApp has introduced six new filters and six visual effects, allowing for more playful and personalized interactions.
WhatsApp’s Updates tab, home to Status and Channels, is seeing some innovative changes. One standout feature is the addition of photo-based polls in Channels. Admins can now add images to each poll option, making audience engagement more interactive.
Users can also now star Channel updates, letting them bookmark important posts and return to them later.
Another community-friendly feature allows users to mention groups directly in Status updates, ensuring group members are notified and can easily engage with the shared content.
These recent upgrades underline WhatsApp’s ongoing mission to enhance how users connect and communicate—offering tools that are not only practical but also fun, interactive, and community-focused.
