Zimbabwe’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka is gaining strong momentum, with preparations well underway for the country’s designated National Day and accompanying Business Forum, set for the 15th and 16th of July.
The Zimbabwe Pavilion has emerged as a popular feature of the international exhibition, attracting over 500,000 visitors so far. Many are drawn by a captivating virtual reality experience that highlights the country’s renowned tourist destinations.
Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Stewart Nyakotyo, expressed satisfaction with the progress being made. He noted that the Business Forum is being coordinated by ZimTrade and ZIDA, in collaboration with Japan’s trade promotion body, the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
“The event will spotlight Zimbabwe’s investment prospects in sectors such as mining, agriculture, and tourism,” said Ambassador Nyakotyo. “National Day is an opportunity to celebrate our heritage and showcase Zimbabwe’s economic potential to the Japanese audience and the global Expo community.”
Dr. Takaruza Munyanyiwa, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, described the high foot traffic to the pavilion as promising for Zimbabwe’s tourism prospects.
“Surpassing the half-a-million visitor milestone, both at our main stand and tourism booth, shows strong interest. It’s a signal that Japan presents a viable market for growth not just for tourism, but also for broader investment,” Dr. Munyanyiwa said. “World expos offer unmatched exposure, and Zimbabwe is committed to making the most of such platforms.”
Expo 2025 Osaka, which continues until October, features participation from 161 countries and international organizations, providing a global stage for engagement, promotion, and partnerships.
