Police have apprehended four additional individuals in connection with a violent robbery at Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera, which is owned by the parents of Lucy Muteke, the new spouse of businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

The assailants stole more than US$74,000, which is suspected to be part of the lobola money Chivayo had recently paid.

On Thursday, March 27, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests of Temptation Gerald Dinhidza (44), Tawanda Mushawatu (45), Anold Tafireyi (38), and Mike Mhaka (45). Nyathi shared details of the investigation, stating:

“On March 25, 2025, detectives from the CID Homicide unit received information linking Temptation Gerald Dinhidza to the robbery. He was allegedly attempting to sell a Mercedes Benz C200 (registration number AEW 5657), which he had purchased using his portion of the stolen money.”

The detectives tracked down Dinhidza and arrested him near Seke High School in Chitungwiza.

Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of three other suspects: Tawanda Mushawatu, Anold Tafireyi, and Mike Mhaka. The suspects guided the detectives to the recovery of USD 1700 in cash, a .455 Smith and Wesson revolver, 20 live 12 Bore rounds, 23 live 9 mm rounds, and an empty magazine.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects had used the stolen money to purchase household items, vehicles, residential plots, construction materials, and food.

Nyathi thanked the public for their valuable information that led to the arrests and urged people to continue reporting criminal activities through the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703631, via WhatsApp at 0712 800 197, or to their nearest police station.
