KWEKWE, Zimbabwe – A tragic incident occurred yesterday at ZIMASCO, a leading chrome mining company based in Kwekwe, resulting in the fatal injury of a loader operator.
The worker succumbed to injuries after being buried under a pile of chrome during loading operations, sources close to the matter have confirmed to ZiMining.
Details of the incident remain limited, but an anonymous source revealed that the accident occurred when a pile of chrome collapsed, pinning the operator beneath tonnes of material. “The loader was buried under tonnes of chrome after the pile collapsed,” the source stated.
Colleagues at the scene rushed to assist, transporting the injured operator to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending verification.
A video of the rescue efforts has surfaced and gone viral, showing workers frantically attempting to free the operator from the collapsed chrome pile.
