Local health expert and Mpilo Central Hospital acting chief executive, Professor Solwayo Ngwenya has warned citizens to strictly observe Covid-19 regulations amid a deadly third wave of the pandemic in the country.
Ngwenya took to his twitter account to take all necessary measures to prevent a further spread of the corona virus.
“These are horrible times; change or soon many families will be in tears. Prevention, prevention, prevention. This is extremely serious,” he wrote.
Ngwenya earlier predicted that a third wave was imminent in the country.
The health expert also elaborated that the wave was more dangerous as a result of more deadly and more contagious variants.
“Coronavirus: the 3rd wave as predicted in March, is indeed massive; flashingly widespread, never seen before.We stare the virus in the eye,” Ngwenya added on his twit.
Zimbabwe has witnessed a sudden spike in Covid-19 confirmed cases and deaths.
Government has imposed a stricter lockdown in an effort to try and mitigate the spread of the virus calling on citizens to get vaccinated.
