A student enrolled at a local nursing school in Bulawayo has been arrested after it was discovered he had gained entry into the program using falsified Ordinary Level results.

According to Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, Jonathan Mukwenha, a 20-year-old from Chiredzi, was taken into custody following a verification process carried out by the institution’s staff on 23 June 2025.

The routine check was part of a due diligence review of the May 2025 intake, during which the nursing school’s staff cross-referenced academic credentials with the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) using the official results confirmation system.

“While verifying documents, staff found that Mukwenha submitted a counterfeit certificate from the 2022 examination session, claiming six subject passes,” said Inspector Msebele.

However, further investigation revealed a starkly different academic record—Mukwenha had in fact only passed two subjects.

Police have since charged him with forgery, and the case is under further investigation.
