A 25 year old man was brought before the Chipinge Chipinge Magistrates’ Court facing charges of having s*xual intercourse with a young person.
In August 2024, a male adult from Gaza, Chipinge, met a 15 year old female juvenile from Chipinge at Southdown rank in Chipinge town where he expressed his romantic interest to which she consented.
According to the NPA, In November 2024, he invited her to his house in Usanga, Chipinge, where they engaged in s*xual relations.
The victim subsequently eloped and they lived as husband and wife until January 2025 when the offender chased her from his house and she returned to her parents.
On the 17th of April 2025, an anonymous tip-off was received, prompting a police investigation that unearthed the offence.
The offender was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment of which 1 year was suspended for 5 years.
He will serve 1 year effectively.
