Zambia’s first president Kenneth Kaunda who died last Thursday at a military hospital in Lusaka will be laid to rest on the 7th of July.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Zambia’s vice president, Inonge Winga.
Winga added that the funeral of the late founding Zambian president will be open to his family and invited mourners only.
According to reports, KK as he was affectionately known will be buried in Lusaka the capital of Zambia, at the country’s presidential burial site opposite the cabinet office.
Ahead of the burial, KK’s body will be taken to all the ten provinces in Zambia starting from Wednesday, to let citizens honour and pay their last respect to the former president.
Kaunda’s burial will follow after a state memorial set to be held at the National Heroes Stadium on the 2nd of July.
