Mutasa Laments Defensive Errors as MWOS Settle for Draw Against Triangle

Coach Lloyd Mutasa expressed disappointment over his team’s defensive lapses after MWOS let a two-goal advantage slip twice, resulting in a draw against Triangle United at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.

“We were sloppy at the back today,” Mutasa admitted. “But I’m proud of the players’ resilience. It wasn’t our most polished performance, yet managing to get a result here is still something positive — credit to the boys.”

Looking ahead, he added, “We’ll go back to the drawing board and focus on preparing for our next game against CAPS United.”

On the other side, Triangle United head coach Genesis Mangombe praised his team’s execution, though he was displeased with the manner in which they conceded.

“The players followed the game plan well. Of course, we’re not happy with the goals we let in, but that’s part of the game,” said Mangombe. “The international break really benefited us. It gave us time to fine-tune a few areas and experiment with tactics. It paid off today, but truthfully, we feel like we dropped two points.”

Despite MWOS remaining unbeaten this season, Triangle United twice clawed back from behind to earn a draw at home.

MWOS took the lead when Nigel Matinha finished clinically after a pinpoint diagonal ball from Innocent Zambezi. As halftime approached, Witness Shave equalized for Triangle, heading in from a Thabani Kamusoko free-kick.

Shortly after the restart, Mathew Murambiwa restored the lead for MWOS.

However, Triangle’s Tawanda Denzel Chatuluka, who was later named man of the match, carved through the MWOS defence and fired a shot past Martin Mapisa to level the score again.

Triangle dominated the latter stages of the match and nearly found a winner in the 85th minute, but Kamusoko’s powerful shot was deflected wide for a corner.
