TelOne Learning Center Students Barred from HEXCO Exams Over Missing ID Numbers

More than 50 students were barred from sitting for their HEXCO (Higher Education Examination Council of Zimbabwe) examinations at TelOne Learning Center yesterday, despite having their student IDs.

The administration insisted that they needed to present their national ID numbers, information that was missing from their student IDs.

The issue stemmed from the institution’s IDs not including national identity numbers, a requirement set by the HEXCO examination board for exam verification. As a result, dozens of students were left stranded outside the examination halls, unable to present the necessary identification for verification purposes.

The situation sparked outrage among the affected students, with many questioning the institution’s preparedness and communication about the requirement.

“I’ve been studying for months, and now I’m being told I can’t write my exams just because of a missing number on my ID. This is unfair and disappointing,” said one frustrated student, who wished to remain anonymous.he

“No one informed us about this requirement in advance. If I’d known, I would have sorted it out,” she added.

Another student expressed his dismay at the lack of clarity from the learning center’s management.

“We pay our fees on time and expect to be treated professionally. This is the last thing I needed before my exams,” he said.

Despite repeated attempts to reach TelOne Learning Center officials for comment, no one was available to provide an official statement by the time of publication.

Several students also raised concerns about a communication gap between the administration and learners. Some claim they were not informed that their student IDs needed to include their national identity numbers to qualify for the examination.

As it stands, the lack of identity numbers on student IDs has left the affected candidates in limbo, with many demanding urgent action from both TelOne Learning Center and the examination board to resolve the issue.
