A body of a Rushinga man who went missing last Friday has been found in the Mazowe River.
According to reports from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Cosmas Mazhozho (56) of Mazhozho Village under Chief Makuni left his place of residence on the 25th of June around 9am to go to Pfungwe district purportedly to buy tomatoes and collect his dues.
After he did not return his friend Samuel Makuni went to look for him.
Makuni and the deceased’s family members traced his foot marks which led them to a water body in Mazowe river but with no signs that he had crossed to the other side.
A woman who was washing clothes along the river claimed she saw Chizhozho visibly drunk staggering his way towards the river but could not confirm whether he crossed or not.
Investigations indicated that a hat believed to be Mazhozho’s was picked down the river steam by a fisherman raising suspicions that he could have drowned.
Villagers rummaged the large pool inside the river and found Mazhozho’s lifeless body was found near Chiromba Primary school on the 28th of June.
Police attended the scene and took the body to Chimhanda Hospital for a postmortem.
The postmortem found no visible injuries on the body and police ruled out any possibility of foul play.
Chizhozho was buried yesterday at his rural homestead in Chizhozho village ward 19.
